Mark Schwendau is a CADD-drafting educator of more than 30 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in Industrial Education and a Master's degree in Industrial Management from Northern Illinois University. He has taught in secondary education almost half his professional life and in post-secondary education the later half. He still holds a valid Illinois teaching certificate for grades 6-12.

Besides teaching, Mark has a hobby of writing. He has been published 5 times in texts and workbooks and almost 50 times in journal articles. While his first 5 books are currently out-of-print, they are still commonly found on Internet auction and book web sites. Mark sits on both the peer review and editorial advisory boards of Tech Directions education trade journal where he has also been a regular contributing writer since 1980.

Mark has a passion to be the best possible teacher he can be. This passion for perfection lead him to develop his own curriculum materials for his subject area. From these efforts he was discovered to become an author. His reputation as an author further lead him to serve as a book reviewer for a number of fellow authors of various publishing houses. Those reviewer opportunities made him realize major publishing houses are slow in moving drafting problems and instructional presentations to electronic file formats in keeping with the times. His own use of electronic files allows his students to progress more rapidly in both tradtional and online CADD learning environments. He has dismissed publishing offers to do what he calls MOTS (more of the same).

This web site represents Mark's effort to move CADD and drafting education into this century. In his own words, "Students today want and need educational materials that are clear, concise and timely. Teachers need materials that are all of those things in addition to being in electronic format. I look at the Internet and I see possibilities to teach, publish, and market, educational materials better."
